SHARE Volunteer To Receive Catholic Charities Award

Washington recently announced that veteran SHARE volunteer Phillip
Whitlock will receive the Caritas Award. Given Annually, the
Caritas Award is the highest honor Catholic Charities bestows upon
volunteers.

Warehouse Now Handicapped Accessible
(Winter 2005)
Big news. Workers recently finished work on a handicapped
accessible ramp, which will make it easier for handicapped persons to
enter the warehouse and to volunteer and participate in SHARE.

At the December staff meeting of the Prince George's County Parks and
Recreation Department, Prince George's County Community Developer Chris

SHARE Notes Loss of Mr. Bob
It’s with great sadness we report the recent death of
our beloved colleague, Bob Deaton. Mr. Bob, as he was known
affectionately around the warehouse, died after a brief illness
August 3 in Milton, Delaware to where he had retired in December of
2003 after working for SHARE for fourteen years. He was 80.

Local College Students Visit SHARE
On
our August 27, 2004 Food Distribution Day, college students from two
local universities chose SHARE for their volunteer service
projects. The College Park Scholars from the University of Maryland
and several students from the George Washington University were in
attendance.

Youth from New Life Christian Fellowship Lend a Helping
Hand
Recently
in August 2004, youth from the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in
VA Beach visited SHARE – DC Metro and performed
a week of volunteer service. They were instrumental in helping us
prepare for our monthly food distribution and Crab Feast Fundraiser.
