THE ORDER OF MALTA
This Federal Association is a non-profit corporation established in 1974.
Members are Roman Catholic lay men or women in good standing, who have proven
records of charitable and/or community service with a particular record of
active service in church-related charities or institutions. Once admitted into
the Order, Knights and Dames actively assist the sick and the poor
through the Association's numerous projects including SHARE.
The Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of
Malta, commonly known as the Order of Malta, traces its origins to Jerusalem.
The Order of Malta is the fourth oldest religious order of Christendom.
CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES
Catholic Community Services (CCS) is a social service organization of the Archdiocese of
Washington. Its mission is to enable people to strengthen and transform their
lives by serving and empowering those most in need, by supporting families, and
by engaging the broader community in this work.
CCS provides services for the poor, vulnerable individuals in
the District of Columbia, Charles, Calvert, Prince George's, Montgomery
and St.
Mary's counties in Maryland. Programs are provided through 28 sites,
including five emergency shelters and seven transitional shelters. Some
highlights of Catholic Charities' diverse programs are the Physician's Health
Care Network and the Legal Network, as well as program divisions in Community
Services, Family and Children's
Services, Homeless Services and SHARE.
CONGREGATIONS
Numerous congregations
provide financial support and serve as host sites for the SHARE program.
Our collaborative partnership with congregations allows SHARE to succeed as an
organization.
